BEAUTIFULLY MADE AFRICAN PRINT DRESSES WITH UNIQUE DESIGNS.

For over decades now, the usual traditional African print dresses have become garments made in bright colours and are uniquely designed in cotton print fabrics.
African print dresses are produced with 100% cotton
Usually, cotton is a fantastic fabric, typically durable and lasts for several years even when used daily. Therefore, soaking up natural and human-made kind of dyes helps in producing fantastic colours that are long-lasting, and at the same time, vibrant. Cotton can comfortably fit a tropical climate since it can be cool in hot weather and comfortably warm in colder weather. This is why African dresses are usually produced, solely using cotton.
Traditional print method
Traditionally, most of the ancient textile makers usually make use of dyes extracted from the extraordinary mineral peats and soil dugs right within the ground. For instance, brilliant indigo, vast vats of deep pepper reds, and vibrant saffron are receptacles for obtaining white cotton. However, using shells or stones tied to the cloth is a fantastic way of making tie-dye textile. And amazingly, this is the same technique that has been used and is still in use today.
At most times, hand-carved wooden blocks of beautiful designs that efficiently reflects our natural environment like birds, fish, flowers, and trees are usually used to print on the African print dresses. The main reason why these dresses are in such high esteem is the fantastic combination of beautiful colours that go into producing a single African print dress. Usually, the successful print design is generally in three to four different combinations of colours, and they are usually:
  • Blue, yellow, and orange.
  • Black grey, and brown or red colours.
  • Black, white and hot pink.
Therefore, to name just a few; to the westerners, these colour combinations do not sound promising. But in the moment the creativity of African designers released a new print design, their colour combination works far better than what anyone could have ever imagined.
The African print dresses keep the legacy
Even in this computer age, a mother would still sometimes build up a large box of prints that she can use for herself and many times, she will pass this to her daughters, most especially when they are getting married or when she dies. Then a new bride will receive the box full of African print dresses, heavy brocades and velvets as part of her dowry. It is expected that the husband will then demonstrate his ability by clothing his bride well enough before the husband is allowed to complete the other marriage ceremony negotiations.
However, when financial needs arise, the bride is expected to dip her hands into her trunk and sell some of these gorgeous African print dresses and heavy brocades to raise some cash to meet their financial needs.
Modern trends of making African print dresses
In this modern age, the computer is used to print and design African print dresses and complex images onto the cotton. And as a result, African print dresses have considerably grown stronger and stronger in maintaining the African culture in a modern way.
